Our melamine particle board

Melamine-faced particle board is a particle board core pressed between two sheets of melamine-impregnated décor paper. The face is finished in the press, and the edges stay raw for the furniture maker’s edge banding. Our catalogue board BM-1:

How the board is built

Particle board is pressed from wood chips coated with resin. Many boards are formed in three layers: fine particles on both faces, which give a smooth base under the décor paper, and coarser chips in the core. A short-cycle hot press then bonds the melamine paper to both faces without extra glue.

Compared with MDF, particle board costs less and suits flat, lightly loaded panels; MDF gives cleaner machined edges. Our guide MDF vs particle board vs plywood compares the three boards.
